New UEG marks way off
1 Attachment(s)
So, I assembled my UEG yesterday. Feels like a nice solid unit, but I noticed the measurements were slightly off. ;)
http://tracksawforum.com/attachment....1&d=1536769605 Am I missing something here? |
Off in relation to what?
|
It's zeroed nearly an inch beyond the fence, which makes the measurements on the side a bit hard to use.
|
The marks do not have anything directly to do with the fence. The marks are to be used in conjunction with the Smart Base and the reference marks on it (the small triangles). Once the reference marks are lined up then it corresponds to the distance between the fence and the blade.

I never realized that the triangles were supposed to indicate cut width, mine are way off, so far off I never realized that is what they're there for. On mine there is another little pointer that is close, it's sort of under one of the washers on the clamp wingnuts. Like I said it's close but the pointer is so wide it's of little use. Just checked triangles miss cut width by over an inch.
Of course any accuracy on the fixed marks on the Base rely on the saw being mounted in the exact correct position on the Base. Quote:

make your own zero.
Hi guys.
Something is wrong here. The printing is done be another vender. we are looking into this but the best way is to make your own mark after you install the saw and place the blade against the fence. An adjustable ruler is another answer until we receive the long awaiting brackets. The new brackets will eliminate any and all issues. We will offer them as an upgrade at very low prices. Even Free with any order to avoid the shipping cost. We had QC issues with the first production run of 2000? units. And a big mistake on shipping with the second production run... While we tried to renew our supply line the trade wars started and is taking time to find EZ again. Please, give us a brake ( Or break?) |

Here is a pic of my UEG with the blade all the way against the fence. Triangles mean nothing.

Make your own indexing mark.

Hey wasser, not to hijack this thread, but that is quite a nice picture you took!! Great light and detail. It even includes the lovely trademark!
