Yes, that could be a problem. If the track is longer than the part being cut, the saw would just run between the dogs - the longer one is about 2-3/4" (70 mm). Mr Parfitt addresses this in one of his videos - he just sets a strip of wood between the edge of the track and the dogs so that there's no interference.
