Brian,

I have some Festool stuff, and some EZ stuff. And to be honest I use the different saw systems for different puposes. Sometimes I don't want a plunge saw - sometimes it's more appropriate to just push the saw forward.
As far as the cut quality, they are the same.
Always trust your instinct - the EZ products work, and work well. They are robust and built to last. And they are made in the USA.
