Default Router bits for clean edges

So far all of my router experience is freehand with bits on edges.

Which type of router bit do you find provides the cleanest edges for dados and rabbets? I'm talking about the edge between the sanded surface and the cut side of the dado/rabbet.

Straight? Spiral Up? Spiral Down?

Which provides the cleanest cut bottom? I'm not so sure that is important for my needs, but while I'm asking.

I'll be using the SSRK, so there will be multiple passes to create the needed width.

For a smooth edge, smaller straight or spiral down, . For a smooth bottom surface, larger upcut.
