Default TappaTalk Plugin

I think I asked a long time ago and it never happened. Got a new phone a little while ago and I find myself using it for forum browsing more and more. I and I'm sure many other users would really appreciate it if the TappaTalk plugin was installed on this forum. Makes browsing the forum on a smart phone much easier and quicker.

TappaTalk

It's free for forums and according to their page takes 15 minutes to install using their step by step instructions.

You know I've never used that tappatalk app but several of the other forums I frequent do give me a message stating that the forum supports tappatalk. Going to download it and try it out.

Default Wait please.

The forum team made not of this and we are looking into the app. Just be aware -- what the folks promoting the app say about how easy it is to install and operate may or may not be true or true in our case.

I did inquire at the first mention (post) but we do proceed with caution. Conflicts and security holes are issues we try to avoid. We are in the process of getting more background.

Patience.

Just reviewed the instructions for vBulletin 3.8 and installation really is trivial. Simply download the zip file for 3.7/3.8. Place in the root of the forum installation on the server. Unzip. This adds a folder in which is an xml file. Go to the forum administration page and in the plugin section select the xml file to add the plugin. Done. Then there is a url you can hit to verify that push notifications are working. Final step is to get the forum listed in TappaTalk which is just following some prompts after creating an account.

As for security issues I wouldn't be worried. TappaTalk is the top app in this field by a long shot. Number 1 on the play store and top 5 on itunes in it's category. A home theater forum I frequent (also on vBulletin) has been using it for several years with no issues. If they were doing anything nefarious with their plugin it would be known by now. All authentication is through the forum, not through them, they don't store any user or password info. I've been a web developer professionally for 10 years, I wouldn't hesitate to install it on a forum I was running given what I know about it.

The only drawback it has is if you make heavy use of the banner advertising forums can let you setup, anyone using TappaTalk on a mobile device won't see them. Which is the reason another forum I frequent refuses to install it. But I don't think that's an issue here.

Anyways, patiently waiting

I understand the concerns but Tapatalk would be a great feature since most of my forum time is at coffee break or in between tasks in the workshop where my laptop is not

I tend to participate more to forums that offer the convenience of using the Tapatalk application.
