Default Milwaukee m18 fuel shoe too big for universal base

Hi all, new poster. Just ordered my first ezsmart kit.

As you can see from the title, I have Milwaukee m18 fuel cordless 7 1/4" circular saw (awesome saw btw) that I was hoping to use, but the shoe won't fit onto the universal base. It's about 1/2" too long. Also, the rear of the base interferes with the blade guard.

I could make it fit by trimming the base from the rear lip back, but that would mean I could no longer use the fin attachment, and I wonder if the guide would still be stiff enough.

Any advice?

Thanks!

I'm sure several have modified their base with acceptable results, but I wouldn't recommend it. Too much trouble.

There are several saws that won't fit the regular EZ base but there is a simple solution.

The moduni base will work for your saw. If your regular EZ base is still in new condition, you might be able to exchange it. Call EZ and I'm sure they'll fix you up right away.

Great saw, by the way.
