Default Pipe

I am trying to draw some bent tubing. This case it is 3/4" EMT. I can not seem to find a tutorial or some sort of instruction. Got any hints where to look? Do not even know what it might be filed under -- annoying, you know what you want but do not know what to ask for.

Phil,

There isn't anything native to SU, but search the Sketchucation site. I seem to remember a plugin to create pipe that goes along a line you have drawn.

Phil,

It is simple using the follow me tool. Draw a line with the curve of your intended tube. Draw a circle connected to one end of it, use the follow me tool and drag it along the line. Voila!

Default That Works

Well that does work. I really wish there was a line weight tool or dialog. Most of the draw programs have a dialog that allows you to set the weight of the line independent of the rest of the model or drawing. It is very handy as you can set the line weight to represent a 3/4" tube and draw any shape you wish. Maybe future versions?

I have notice that drawing a model of shapes or items is pretty easy. Drawing the full on plans takes time. Some of the component items feel touchy or fussy getting them just right. The other problem is to know when you want to do what. I find that several times I make a component and start over so the sequence is better or correct for what I want to do.

There are times when I really want to override the the axis and just put the component where I want it -- and nothing seems to let me. I end up spending large amounts of time placing components. I know about the arrow keys and keeping things on axis, but I end up switching from axis to axis and back again. There has to be a better way.

Anyway I suspect that much of that will get better as I improve. Already have a rather large list of plans to draw. Nice to get some stuff from the warehouse and see what others have done. Helps to learn, and what to avoid.
